The Difference Between Flying Ants and Termites

It is important to determine whether your property has flying ants or winged termites in order to decide how the problem should be treated. Some flying ants resemble winged swarming termites.

Both species have four wings, but flying ants have noticeably larger wings in the front than in the back. A termite's antennae are almost straight while an ant's antennae are elbowed. A flying ant's wings are shorter and more proportionate to its body.
